Now some of the cast Iron skillets and pans can last a long time if you take care of them. The non stick pans are the ones you need to keep an eye on. If they start looking worn and flaky then yes they need to be replaced,

Always read the label on the pans to see what the proper care is for each kitchen item you get. Some are dishwasher safe and some are not, same with the microwave.
